Thank you for the faith in reading through every week and for your suggestions and comments. Surely, we shall do better in 2023.

The year 2022 witnessed lots of sporting activities we looked at, resulting to lots of issues raised and discussed fully.

However, on this last edition and day of year 2022,we want to focus on Siblings in sports especially those that caught our attention at the just concluded 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba ,who represented Team Plateau in Gymnastic.

We have seen Siblings in different sports representing their countries like the Manning Brothers in the Super Bowl(Peter & Eli Manning),the Williams sisters in Tennis (Venus & Serena),Harbaugh Brothers in NBA (John, coach Baltimore Ravens & Jim,coach San Francisco 49ers).We also have the Klitcho Brothers in boxing (Vitali &Vladimir) and many more.

In Nigeria, we had in football: the Kanu Brothers (Nwankwo & Ogbonna), Okochas (Emma,James & Austin),Utakas (John & Peter) and also the Babayaros..(Emmanuel & Celestine) who all represented Nigeria at various cadre of the National teams. In athletics we had the Ezenwas..(Desmond & Davidson), Nathaniels (Glory & Samson) who represented Nigeria in the IAAF world championships 400m Hurdles in London 2017.

It is in this light that we talk about the ADAMS SIBLINGS..Michael(eldest & coach),Richard (younger) & Kande(last born). These Siblings have been representing Team Plateau at various sporting events and the 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba was not an exception. They all represented Team Plateau in Gymnastic with a silver medal even after they were robbed of their gold medal.

The Adams hail from Bassa Local Government of Plateau State, a place already know for attacks by ‘unknown gunmen’ and also resides in Kabong,Gada biu..a place regarded as a black spot for crimes but these Siblings decided to change the narratives by engaging in positive social values like sport.

Looking at the Siblings, the eldest Michael Adams (22) is a Gymnastic coach with the Plateau State Sports Council. He is an all round Gymnast whose best apparatus are High Bars & Parallel Bars. Michael was a silver medalist in Taekwando at the West African Polytechnic Games in Ghana, won one silver & a bronze at the 20th NSF in Edo 2020.He was adjudged the best Gymnast at the 19th NSF in Abuja 2019 where he won one gold medal and one silver medal.

Michael is a holder of a National Diploma in Banking and Finance from the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi.He is the eldest of four(4) Siblings..3 boys & a girl.

Michael hopes to use his talent and exposure to train other kids from his Kabong area to limelight in different sporting activities, the reason he has established a sport centre for this to put kabong on a good level.

Another Gymnast & Karate expert in the family is Richard (20),an all round Gymnast. His best apparatus on the Gymnastic floor is the Gymnastic High Bars which has earned him participations in different sporting events in Nigeria and outside. Richard was the 2nd best gymnast at the 5th National Youth Games in Kwara, where he won four (4) silver medals,one(1) silver & a bronze medal in Karate at the 2022 University Games.

He was the captain of Team Plateau Gymnasts at the just concluded 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba which won a silver medal.
Richard Adams is currently a student with the university of Jos,hope to be an olympian and loves singing (Rap)

The only female of the family is Kande(13), a JSS 3 student also represented Team Plateau in Gymnastic at the 21st NSF.
She is an all round gymnast whose best apparatus is the Gymnastic Beam. Kande led and won 1 bronze medal at the 5th National Youth Games in Kwara and 1 gold medal at the 2nd TIG Gymnastic championships level three in Abuja. She was the Team Plateau female Gymnastic captain in Asaba.
