Plateau United forward Jesse Akila have come out to speak of the teams preparedness going into the first round preliminary round encounter against Gabonese champions Stade Mandji, saying that the team is in high spirit and ready to progress to the next round of the preliminary round against Esperance De Tunis of Tunisia.

A fortnight ago, Plateau United along with his teammates went to Gabon and played a pulsating 2 all draw picking up 2 away goals from the boots of Nenrot Silas and Mohammed Zilkifuilu giving the team all to play for in the second leg encounter to be played later today at the MKO Abiola Stadium by 4:00pm.

General Manager of the side Pius Henwan in a bit to get maximum support for the side have announced that the gates would be thrown open to fans. Jesse Akila on his own part have said that though it would be different to playing at the New Jos Stadium the team with the backing it has received would do well to get the job done he also appealed to the fans of Plateau United and Nigerian football to troop to the National Stadium to support the team.

Enyimba FC of Aba are the only Nigerian side to have won the tournament, winning it back to back in 2003 and 2004 and the United forward have promised for the team to be represented at the continent this time around after numerous failed attempts.

The other Nigerian sides (Kwara United, Rivers United and Remo Stars) playing on the continent have to just avoid defeat to qualify to the next round.
