Nigeria Representatives At The Continent, Plateau Peacocks Handball Team Intensifies Training:

Plateau State female Handball team, Plateau Peacocks are training intensively, defying the very cold weather in Jos as they prepare to represent Nigeria at the 40th Africa 2024 Winners Cup in Oran, Algeria, from the 16th to the 28th of April, 2024.

The Head Coach of Plateau State Handball team, Yakubu Tonga Wuyep, who also doubles as the Coach of the Male team, told www.ssimedia.com.ng; “Although the weather is extremely cold and couple with the fact that we train outside but we have no choice, because our target is not to go and represent the Country alone but to come tops and make the State and Nigeria as a whole proud.”

The Plateau State Head Coach of the female team, Yusuf Abdulkadri express confidence that his girls are good to go especially with the enabling environment provided by the Sports loving Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang
In his words: “My girls, the technical crew and the Handball team as a whole are in high spirit, the weather in Jos now is very very cold but we are not bothered because we have a mission to accomplish in Algeria and the cold weather now is even a blessing in disguise.”

Coach Yusuf Abdulkadri continues: ‘You can see how the team is in high spirit, it’s no other thing but because of the fact that these girls know that they have a father in His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, a Sports loving Governor that is always there for us. And our Director, Professor Ezra and Commissioner, Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti are also supportive.’

The arrival date for the event is on the 16th of April, 2024

Opening ceremony: 18th of April, 2024

Finals: 27th of April, while departure will be on the 28th of same month 2024.

www.ssimedia.com.ng gathers that the registration fee is 500 Euros, CAHB is 300 Euros, Participation fee is 90 Euros per person in double room for 14 days and Head of Delegation, 120 Euros per person in single room for 14 days.

It would be recalled that Plateau Peacocks got the ticket to represent Nigeria in this Winners Cup after finishing third in the just concluded Ardova Premier Handball League. The first and second teams will represent Nigeria in the African Cup of Champions.
