Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe are set to stay at Man United

Erik ten Hag has provided a transfer update on three out-of-favour Manchester United players with the end of the transfer window less than a week away.

Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe are all set to stay at Old Trafford, despite all three players being unlikely to feature in the first-team setup at the club under the Dutchman.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of United’s trip to Southampton on Saturday, Ten Hag explained that injury issues are the main reason preventing the trio moving on this summer.

‘Am I expecting more players to go out? It can be,’ The manager explained.

‘But who you are talking about, they are in this moment not available. So I don’t think they will go out in this window.’

Jones is currently United’s longest-serving player, having joined the club from Blackburn in 2011 during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

The centre-back is also one of just two remaining players who were at the club who were featured the last time United won the Premier League, with the other being David de Gea.

After a pair of injury-stricken seasons that saw the former England international make just two Premier League appearances, Jones made a surprise return to action for the club when he was drafted in by then-boss Ralf Rangnick amidst an injury crisis last season.

Williams and Tuanzebe spent last season out on loan at Norwich, and Aston Villa and Napoli respectively.
