Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reveals new signing Nnamdi Ofoborh must wait for debut after heart scan revealed ‘red flag’

Ofoborh had two spells on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed new signing Nnamdi Ofoborh will not feature in the ‘short-term’ while a heart issue is assessed.

The 21-year-old signed a pre-contract deal with the Ibrox club in February, linking up with his new side this summer after finishing last season at Wycombe Wanderers on loan from Bournemouth.

The Nigerian midfielder however is still to feature during pre-season however, missing Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in Glasgow.

Speaking after the game, Gerrard explained how a heart issue detected during an electrocardiogram scan has raised a ‘red flag’ – with Ofoborh requiring more tests over the coming weeks.

Gerrard told Rangers TV: ‘I don’t think you’ll see him in the short term. Unfortunately something has flagged up with his ECG, which is the heart test.
