SSI Championship: Skylink FC In Cloud 9 After Beating Learning FC At Away To Unseat Faith Alive FC At The Summit Of The Table

Skylink Football Club of Jos North Local Government Council are leaving nothing to chance, firing from all cylinders, to make sure they pick one of the two automatic Premiership tickets from the Championship after picking a valuable away points yesterday, overcoming host, Learning Football Club of Jos South Local Government Council to complete a double over them with a comfortable 2-0 away win.

With only two matches to go, this result has shot them to the top of the table at least temporarily before Faith Alive FA travel to play Tijara FA away from home today.

First half of this exciting game ended goalless but it came with so many scoring chances from both teams.

Defensive midfielder Job Arin had hit the bar in the 27th minute for Skylink with a long range strike from 25yards, left wing forward Ezra Choji of Learning FC was a constant nightmare to Skylink defence line with his lightening pace and dribbling skills forced the goalkeeper to make some good saves.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 50th minute when right back Jeffery Ayuba found himself at the right place in the Learning FC’s box for a simple tapping into the back of the net to give Skylink FC a deserved lead.

Skylink boys doubled their lead in the 65th minute when forward Ebuka Umejinwa took advantage of an error from the goalkeeper to slot home the ball.

Learning FC boys were a bit relaxed and shaky in the second half while Skylink boys continued with the same energy and determination with which they started the game and were duly rewarded with a victory.

This victory has seen them not only achieving a double over Learning FC but also topping the table with 42pts at least temporarily until Faith Alive FA play Tijara FA today.

On the other hand, Learning FC’s loss means they are currently on a 7-game winless run as their last victory was 2-1 at home against Gura Zot Lions on the 15th of July this year and up next for them in Week 21 is an away game against their neighbours, third placed Elspuron Feeders FA who are also in the promotion hunt; while Skylink boys visit Tijara FA.
